Bamiyan cultural centre

The sinuous shapes that characterise the project offer the visitors of the Bamiyan Cultural Centre a generous symbolic embrace to the afghan valley where once stood two stately sculptures of Buddha, destroyed in a terrorist attack in 2001. They represent a gesture of love for an area that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and, metaphorically, to other cultures and ways of thinking.
The configuration of the site has driven the development of the architecture, in a natural way.
Soft and curvaceous surfaces of the project allow, inside, long ramps to connect different levels and outdoor spaces, without the need of any elevator.
